INTRO TO CONSERVATION BEEKEEPING VIRTUAL COURSE

Conservation Beekeeping focuses on the honeybee’s health & vitality rather than on honey production. Rather than utilizing chemicals, sugar syrup, & other manipulations to keep bee colonies alive, we rely on following nature and observing how feral bee colonies thrive in the wild when choosing our management practices. This 3 hr course will lead you through how to get started with honeybees & establish them in a habitat that supports their well-being.

Topics covered will include:

  • What is Conservation Beekeeping?

  • How do bees live in the wild? What qualities make a good bee habitat?

  • Basic honeybee biology & behavior

  • Selecting the hive for you

  • How to modify conventional hive styles for bee-centric beekeeping

  • Preparing for bees

  • Creating good bee habitat/balancing with native pollinators

  • Sourcing your bees

  • Feeding your bees

  • Bee-Centric Management

  • How to develop intuitive communication with your bees

This is an online course that can be watched on your own time. Once purchased, you will receive a google drive link within 24 hrs containing the course content.
